Motorrad Ignitions

Analog for Ignition system for Motorbike engines

This type of ignition is used with 4000 turns in the stator. With a wire diameter of 0.15 mm, this ignition is designed for high current surge which is better when starting it with a kickstart.

PVL offers various stator (base plate according to engine manufacturer).&xnbsp;&xnbsp; You can see in the table the Stator technical parameters.
The cam moves in a range of 13 °. The actual position of the ignition is in relation to the setup of piston position (before TDC).
The PVL coil # 458 100 (or 105 458) is the approved coil for the official kart racing, but is operated here for motorcycle applications with a higher wound stator coil with 4000 turns. The purpose of this configuration is a better start, with a relatively early onset of ignition with about 12 kV at 500 r / min. The relatively fast returning curve is more suitable for motorcycle engines as they have typically lower speeds than kart engines.
This coil is driven by PVL stators with spade connectors 4.8 mm and 6.3 mm. The markings of the rotor and stator are dependent on the direction of rotation of the rotors and the polarity of the loading coilcharging. For some stators both markings are used. These are then suitable for both directions of rotation.
