Stator type analog
* 1 combination connector AMP EconoSeal, 2 is flat plug, 3 is a round plug, 4, AMP Superseal connector, 5 is double plug PVL 7603
** iW-Zzp is angle the ignition timing.
Hint
When ordering, it is important to specify the connector type, as the plug is available in 5 variants and the selected stator must fit. In general, all PVL Ignitions for right-left run are suitable, but this changes of course the ignition, and then you have to set a new mark (put about 180 ° CA). Due to a reversal of the connector black / blue you can reach a similar result as a change in the direction of rotation. If one uses a stator which is for clockwise rotation, it is possible by reversing the polarity of the ignition to get back to the original position. The ignition is in a different position, because the voltage waveform on the stator is only a “distorted” sine curve for this measure. For example, the stator combined 1052 with connector type 2 (flat connector) and the rotor 952 with ignition coil 105 458, the rotation is by default right-handed, and the connector is turning start “blue” and turning end “black”. If you wanted to convert this ignition to left-handed, you only have to replace the blade terminal and the black wire to the blue wire and the blue wire to the black cable (cross connect). The ignition will run properly on left-handed, since the beginning of turning were inverted end. This solution can be used if a rebuild of an engine for PVL is performed and the desired stator with corresponding rotational direction is not available. Different plugs were chosen to avoid confusion.
Analog ignition components cannot be combined with digital. The stators for analog and digital are constructed differently. Different plugs were chosen to avoid confusion. Since in analog systems, the physical effects of the induction can not be compensated by calculation, one must keep this influence of the start as small as possible. The more turnings on a stator, the better (earlier) the startup behavior. However, it can very quickly mean a significant retardation, which may, depending on the engine, affect the performance significantly. So, it is very important to the engine characteristics, to know the usable power band and the rotatory power exact. In kart engines that rotate very high and can be started either by pushing or from an electric starter, usually stators with 1850 turnings are used. In motorcycles, for example, Enduro, Cross etc. stators with 3000 to 4000 turnings are used, because these have a very good kickstart. In some cases, stators with over 4000 loops are used, but this is the exception. With the analog ignition coils 105 458 (black) or 479 100, (red) stators such as 1052 (4000 turnings) are paired. In our testing of the pairing, the stator coil 479 100 1052 reached a much higher speed in a race such as Simson S51 with 12 hp. The ignition curves can be found in the diagrams. Analogue systems are much cheaper in price-performance ratio as digital and can be supplied in many performance variants and sizes. For this it is particularly important that particularly with modifications such as for vintage motorcycles and scooters, racing cars, moped Racer (KTM 50, Zündapp 50, Sachs 50, Malaguti 50 etc.), the rotational direction, the cone of the crankshaft side pin , the installation space in the engine housing, the engine speed and the requirements for endurance 24-hour moped racing) are known. In almost all cases for these modifications, an adapter plate made of aluminum or an adequate constructed plastic (as low heat conductivity) can be used.
This adapter plate must be made so that the PVL baseplate fits exactly concentrically to the center of the crankshaft bearing and can be adjusted in both directions. This is important, as the rotor is running at only 0.1 mm play in the stator and cannot rub against the stator laminations. We can assist you with conversions and the manufacture of these adapter plates if necessary.
